Baja California Sur stretches along the southern half of Mexico's Baja Peninsula, with a dry, desert climate that stays warm year-round-think 75 to 95 degrees F (24 to 35 C). It's famous for gray whale migrations from December to April, when you can kayak alongside them in Magdalena Bay, and for the rock arch El Arco at Cabo San Lucas. Winters are perfect for whale watching and snorkeling at Cabo Pulmo's coral reef, while summers mean fewer crowds, cheaper hotels, and great surfing on the Pacific side near Todos Santos.
